Education Specialist, Norian Fordham

Mr. Norian Fordham, a dedicated Musical Innovations Education Specialist, serves the North Carolina Piedmont Triad area, encompassing Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, and Yadkin counties and surrounding areas. His deep-rooted understanding of instrument repair and delivery stems from his formative years working alongside his father at Duncan Music Company. His journey from a music educator to returning to a music company in his hometown is a testament to his unwavering commitment to music education.

A native of North Carolina and the Triad, Mr. Fordham began taking beginner band classes at five through the Moravian Music Foundation. These classes support the Moravian Church bands in the Southern Province, enabling participants to return to their church congregation and assist with the music ministry. These classes teach students to read music, maintain proper hand positions, and produce a tone with their instruments. These early classes ignited Mr. Fordham’s passion for music. Steeped in tradition, Mr. Fordham, for fifty-one years, will return to direct and play in the Easter band at Old Salem in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which has included around 350 musicians for the Easter sunrise service.

Mr. Fordham, a trumpeter and graduate of Appalachian State University, boasts over 30 years of experience as a music educator in North Carolina. His tenure as the Director of Bands and Music Coordinator at North Davidson High School from 1998 to 2024 was marked by his bands' consistent achievement of numerous Superior and Excellent ratings.

Mr. Fordham's commitment to the music community is evident in his active roles. He has served as a member-at-large of the North Carolina Music Educators Association and remains a dedicated member. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the Northwestern District Band Directors Association.

Active as a brass specialist, Mr. Fordham has gained acclaim in North Carolina as a teacher, clinician, and adjudicator. He also offers lessons on trumpet.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Fordham is a family man. He is married to Caroline, and they have three children: daughters Evva Kate, Lucy, and Norian Travis. In his free time, he enjoys camping, playing cards, making pottery, grilling, and supporting his children in various activities.
